Expt: Separation of salt from water

Safety features:

Care with hot water.

Instructions

1. Collect 10cm³ salt water in a test tube
2. Connect the boiling tube to a delivery tube and bung
3. Clamp the tube with a clamp and stand so that the delivery tube leads into a small conical flask in a beaker of ice-water
4. Heat gently using a Bunsen burner until it boils gently.
5. Boil gently for 2 minutes moving the bunsen burner manually to prevent over heating.
6. Remove the heat and examine the contents of the conical flask.
